MasterCard and Visa partners again with DataCellDataCell, the payment provider of WikiLeaks, is again competent of accepting payments through credit cards after MasterCard Inc. and Visa Europe Ltd. have blocked donations to its website seven months ago.

Additionally, DataCell claimed that an alternative payment is being utilized as first step in processing money sent by means of Visa Europe, which is recognized in the European Union as the largest card network, and MasterCard, which is the second largest payments network in the world.

The company expressed that they are in high spirits reporting their re-acceptance of payments and donations to WikiLeaks. They further claimed that they want to infer this situation as MasterCard and Visa have already given in to their demand in reinstating such kind of service.

Visa Europe had blocked WikiLeaks from processing through their network in collecting donors’ funds. The website of MasterCard was hacked by a group Anonymous in December last year and in the previous month following the Purchase. Julian Assange who leads WikiLeaks is publishing undisclosed documents which included military information and confidential US diplomatic information.

The London-based Visa Europe’s spokesperson Amanda Kamin has denied that they modified WikiLeaks’ donations policies. Kamin further emphasized that the firm did not reinstate DataCell and are observing the processes of transactions. MasterCard’s spokesperson James Issokson has not commented on the issue.
