Apple to protect its App StoreIn its preliminary bid, Apple may have lost the case in keeping Amazon away from applying the “App Store” phrase in its mobile applications, but it did not become a hindrance in the growth of Apple.

According to the Wall Street Journal, GetJar, an independent site for free mobile applications was told by Apple to end their usage of the phrase “App Store”, especially on its Website or elsewhere.

Apple has already filed a suit not in favor of Amazon’s usage of “App Store” term when in fact the online retailer has started its Android Appstore last march. The Apple company has previously registered the phrase “App Store” in 2008 with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Kristin Huguet, the spokesperson of Apple expressed that they have already requested Amazon not to use “App Store” because it will only mislead and confuse consumers.

In the previous week, the federal judge of California had given verdict that Apple did not have enough evidences proving that Amazon’s usage of “App Store” has weakened the name, further explaining that the phrase was not either entirely general.

On the other hand, Ilja Laurs, CEO of GetJar claimed that they won’t be intimidated by such a key player like Apple. They will not back down, saying that Apple’s move is like an indicator that they are acting like they are above the law.
